Things I Trust was inspired by a quote from Victoria Erickson, “To trust in the river, the song, the stillness, the storm, and the seed. This is my religion.” I wanted the spare calmness of the piece to echo the simple language and clarity of wisdom in Erickson’s beautiful words. Each of the five main elements, though simple, has a touch of sparkle - through glitter, metallic papers and paints, or shiny beads - to evoke its divinity.
